December Guest Designer: Cat Kerr

Hi everyone! Maggi here to announce our fabulous guest designer for December: Cat Kerr!

Cat Kerr is a mixed media artist that lives in Central Florida with her husband and two children. She is a professional daydreamer and artist and has been creating for over 12 years. She is a member of the ICE Resin® Creative Team and will be teaching at Artful Gathering Summer 2012. She has an exciting mixed media shop as well as an incredible jewelry shop.  To learn more about Cat and see her work, check out her blog, In the Light of the Moon.

And here are the projects Yvonne and I created, inspired by her work.

Yvonne was inspired by Cat’s many smaller projects and created this scene:

Life is sweetYvonne: I upcycled some packaging for a cute little “scene”. The backing was covered with old book paper from the ACME Kit and misted. Then I just added stickers and embellishments for a happy “scene”.

I love Cat’s use of vintage and antique photographs/graphics so I made this mini canvas:

I used music sheets and sewing patterns from the ACME Kit for the background and covered the entire canvas in beeswax, a technique also used by Cat.

Cat got a chance to play with our Knick Kack Paddy Whack Kit before anyone else and you will be positively drooling over what she created so join me here next week for the unveiling.

Until then, go glue something awesome onto some awesome something! 😀

  4. Welcome, Cat! So excited to have you with us this month and can’t wait to see what you’ve done with the Knick Knack kit (no, Maggi does not even show *me* ahead of time! haha!). Yvonne, that little scene is genius… I always save those little packages thinking there must be a great use for them. And you are the go-to girl for using them… better get started on my pile! Maggi, great work on your project, too – looks so vintage-y and distressed. Love the pearl buttons down the side, and that pop of green leaf in the middle is fabulous.

  5. So glad to have you here with us this month Cat! I’m in love with your work! Can’t wait to see what you did with this month’s kit!
