Giveaway: Win Some Gauche Alchemy!

Happy Saturday! Amy here to announce a Gauche Alchemy giveaway!

Gauche Alchemy Giveaway!

Unlike the poor dude pictured here, our contests are designed to be humiliation free. No risk participation! Go for it!

So, here’s the idea. Spread the word about Gauche Alchemy and get a chance to win a delish goody bag on us. It will have a little of this and a dash of that – guaranteed some of our favorite finds.

From now through Valentines Day, any Tweet that includes the hashtag #GaucheAlchemy and a link to our blog (http://GaucheAlchemy.com) will be entered to win. Simple right?

Same goes for Facebook – any post that meets these two criteria will be entered to win (make sure to mark that post public so we can see it).

You can also enter on Pinterest by pinning your favorite product from our shop (found at http://GaucheAlchemy.artfire.com) or pinning a project that features our products (yours or anyone else’s, including our designers), of course including #GaucheAlchemy and our blog link in the description of the photo.

Three ways to win! Get crackin’!

Happy Birthday, Gauche Alchemy!

Hey everyone!  It’s Amy and Heather.

Whoo hoo!  Can you believe Gauche Alchemy is THREE years old? What a long, strange trip it’s been.

Stay tuned this month, as you will be getting behind the scenes glimpses of the innermost workings of Gauche and insights to our humble and crass beginnings…don’t worry, we won’t post anything toooo personal.  Or will we?  You just never know!

We have had a quiet summer – at least from your perspective.  The blog has been silent for the most part, while we scheme our evil plots and hatch our gauche plans.  We’ve got some terrific fun for you this month and in the coming months, starting with our guest designer, Dina Wakley!

As many of you may know, Dina has been an amazing creative force in the mixed media and scrapbooking world for a number of years.  She was, in fact, one of my first true crafty inspirations, and she remains one today!  Her unique style has taken her all over the globe teaching and sharing her love of art.  Needless to say, I was pretty darn excited when Amy and I scheduled a face to face meeting with her!

Heather and I had the pleasure of meeting Dina in person, as she is one of the few designers we’ve worked with who actually live in the same city we do.  It was a bit of hike to get to each other, as Phoenix is one large m-f’er of a city, but we had a lovely lunch with her at Wildflower Bread Company (where I ate like a pig bellying up to the trough, but that’s a different story).

Dina’s cutie patootie youngest son was there to act as photographer, and a good time was had by all.  Dina and Heather seem to be hatching plans to make art and bake bread from the whispers I’ve been hearing… now that’s an event that will require photographic evidence, cuz I can’t wait to see what THAT’S all about!

It’s true!  If I ever make it to her side of town, there will be baking and painting involved!  PS: Can you tell from the picture that it is about 179 degrees where we live?  Talk about a glow!  ** it is actually a delightful combination of oil and sweat, but we prefer to think of it as glowing.  Always a lady!**

And we have another bit of news for you – we are releasing a new kit NEXT WEEK!  I don’t want to give too much away, but if you like mail art, you are going to LOVE this kit.  The new kit has a smaller version and a larger version – one for every budget… and we’ll also be having a ton of giveaways and prizes this month to celebrate our third birthday and our re-launch after our summer of silence.  So make sure you’re following us on Twitter and Facebook – some of the goodies will be given away there.  Also, if you don’t already have a Gauche Alchemy badge or blinkie on your blog, consider putting one up – we’ll be choosing blinkers (badgers?) at random to win fun stuff.

It’s a Contest!

Hello everyone!!!  As most of us (at least here in the US) are looking forward to a holiday weekend, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some Gauche goodness with you all.  Amy and I are so thankful for your loyalty, creativity and shared inspiration.

Let’s start off with the eye candy.  Behold, the Exclusive Acme kit!

Each lot of Acme kits we produce is unique, filled with a special array of Gauche goodies that you are not likely to see anywhere else on our site.  At this time, Acme kits are only available through subscription (6 or 12 months),  but THIS WEEKEND ONLY, you have a chance to get your hands on one of these bad boys for yourself!

  Here’s how:

1.  Leave a comment on this blog post telling us your favorite summer activity.

2.  Become a fan on our Facebook page!  If you already are, then tell your friends about us and have them tell us who sent them!

{just one more look at the goods}

We will choose a random winner from all the participants on Tuesday.

I should also mention that if you are currently a subscriber to the Acme kits, we will substitute with any Gauche products of equal value!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!

PS:  You will definitely want to come back on (or before) Tuesday, because we have some very exciting news you won’t want to miss!

PPS:  Don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend!

Choose Your Own Adventure, the Contest

Heather here!

You may have noticed that every month here at Gauche Alchemy, we have a theme.  It could be basic or more abstract, but always with a Gauche twist.

For the  month of May, we’ve got some really fun stuff planned for you, as well as a fantastic Guest Designer.  But for the following summer months, we need your help.  This is your chance to tell us what you would like to see here on our blog.  Oh yeah, and to win some cool prizes!!  Woo hoo- free stuff!!!

So, here is the deal.  We would like YOU, our fabulous readers, to choose the theme for June.  Leave a comment with your ideas, and remember that no theme is too naughty, saucy, crazy or silly here in Gaucheland.  So, give it your best shot!  The creator of the winning theme will receive a ribbon variety pack and a color kit of their choice (my favorite– pink parts, is shown here). Also, one random commenter will win our most popular product, a punchinella variety pack.We can’t wait to hear from you!

When Nature Calls, You Gotta Get Sketchy

Hi everyone!

Maggi here, ready to announce our newest chance for you to win some rockin’ Gauche Alchemy goodness! I’m pleased as punch to tell you that for the month of September, Gauche Alchemy is sponsoring the Sketchy Thursdays Challenge Blog!

Sketchy Thursdays is a fun challenge blog that uses sketches as inspiration for your creations and we here at GA are super excited because we’ve decided to give one lucky participant our new kit, Nature Calls!

For your creative consideration and to use for this challenge, here is the sketch:

Our DT took this sketch, made it their own (in a sort of “smack it up, flip it, rub it down” if you will :P) and here are their fabulous projects!

Pam:

I made a card using pieces from the Lady Marmalade and Black Out Mixed Media Color Kits. I am trying hard to use my stash up and have a sheet of boy rubons sent to me when I was on the Kaisercraft DT. They are not the kind of things I would put on a boy scrapbook page though, so I decided to make a card for my 17 year old daughter who is about to leave home to go to university. I don’t think 17 is too young to develop some good healthy cynicism-so this card is to remind her that while many girls wear their hearts on their sleeves, many boys wear their hearts in their trousers!!-so take care!

Yvonne:

I made this layout using the BabyKiddoCutie Paper Craft Kit!

Carmen:

I swear, I SWEAR I was going for kitsch and cute with this. 😛 One little Glossy Accents accident on the napkin, I turned her into a zombie to cover it up and… well… I have no defense! Still, What better way to take your mind off being undead than to serve up some brain pie, eh? Mmmm…Brains. *g*  I used the Paper Napkin Art Kit, some Ouchless Cardboard and some bits from Banana Hammock, Black Out and Pink Parts Mixed Media Color Kits.

Stephanie:

I used this sketch as inspiration to create my very first art journal – this is the cover. I used some patterned paper and rub-ons from the BabyKiddoCutie Paper Craft Kit, some Punchinella for stenciling (and Glimmer Mist to spray through it), some random pieces from the Wholey Sheet Kit, some white acrylic paint and some random ‘stuff’ from my stash. Basically, I just sprayed, painted and glued until things were glitzy enough for my magpie self, and the only guideline I was working with was hoping to end up with the final result looking at least slightly like the sketch! (LOL!)

Kas:

The green triangle and cut-out flower are from a wallpaper sample in the Wholey Sheet Kit. I added 2 different pieces of Punchinella to the side. My daughter was 5 in this picture so the money from the Pink Parts Mixed Media Color Kit was just perfect. The butterfly and sequins are from the Wedding Night Mixed Media Color Kit. The buttons and plastic flowers are from the Pink Parts and Envy Mixed Media Color Kits. The doily was from the Kitch Delish Paper Craft Kit.

Merdrey:

Here’s my take on the sketch! I rotated it 90 degrees counter clockwise so it is somewhat like a pyramid!

I used the Wedding Night Mixed Media Color Kit (square button, white fabric leaves, pom-poms), Ouchless Cardboard, Punchinella and the piece of paper that says ‘A Few Notes’.

Angela:

I used the Wholey Sheet Kit, Ouchless Cardboard, Scarlet Fever Mixed Media Color Kit, Punchinella, American Crafts Thickers and free stickers collected in Little 5 Points. The patterned paper is a photograph I took in Little 5 Points in Atlanta that I had made into 12×12 scrapbook paper at craftassy.com.

Deb:

Now that you’ve seen the Design Team’s take on the sketch, head on over to the Sketchy Thursdays Challenge Blog to see their DT’s creations and to link up your own for a chance to win our newest kit, Nature Calls!

Now go glue something awesome onto some awesome something!  😀

Hot Hot Hop!

If you’ve joined us from the Bombshell Stamp/Gauche Alchemy blog hop, welcome!  The theme of this blog hop is HOT HOT HOT!  Perhaps you love (as do I) Marilyn Monroe’s whimsical ways in the movie “Some Like it Hot”…or hot rod cars, or a hot tamale (do they still make that candy?).  For Amy and I who live in the wretched desert of Phoenix, the word hot is something very specific and tangible to us…like the 115 degree day we enjoyed today!

All sweating aside, I’d like to suggest that HOT is more that just a temperature; it’s a state of mind.

Feeling inspired, I decided to create a little card in honor of summer.  I used some of the cardstock and vintage children’s books featured in the premier installment of our Acme kit subscriptions.  I then added some embellishments from the the Blue Streak color kit, and used the Tattoo font stamps from Bombshell to give it a happy title.

Don’t you love the pink tile in our master bathroom– circa 1957, I believe!

Well, you’ve got alot of hopping to do, so you better get on with it! But before you go, please leave a comment here; the Gauche Alchemy prize for this hop will be a random drawing from the commenters on THIS post for a triple color kit with Banana Hammock, Lady Marmalade, and Scarlet Fever.

Here’s the list…make sure to say hi to all the girls and see what hot hot ideas they’ve come up with!

Gauche Alchemy Strikes Up the Band!

Hi everyone, Maggi here with some exciting news!  😀

There is a rockin’ challenge blog out there called These Are a Few of My Favorite Things.  Every prompt is a new “Favorite Thing” and the site owner, Julie has an amazing Design Team over there that create awesome prompt projects.  Of course, Gauche Alchemy wanted in on the action!  So GA and TAAFOMFT decided to join forces and today I’m so excited to announce that Gauche Alchemy is sponsoring their newest challenge: Favorite Band!

And if you play along over at These Are a Few of My Favorite Things with your Favorite Band project, you could win our ACME #3 Mixed Media Paper Crafting Kit!  Now this prize is very special because it the LAST ACME kit you can get without being a kit subscriber!  (More details coming soon on this exciting new kit club!)

Let’s check out what some of our Alchemists came up with:

Yvonne: It was done on 6 X 12 clear acrylic. The edges were inked with StazOn in Fuchsia Pink. I misted the music paper (from the Wholey Sheet Mixed Media Kit) and used bits from the various Mixed Media Color Kits.

Erika: I LOVEEEEED doing this one and think it turned out AWESOME if I do say so myself lol. I’m turning into a layout whore lol. Funny how once you start doing layouts, this happens. I was warned. For the project I used: Scarlet Fever and Black Out Mixed Media Color Kits, Silver Punchinella, Delta Ceramcoat paint in Eggshell White.

Kas used various Mixed Media Color Kits to create this awesome layout, love the use of the 45!

Angela: This layout was made with the Wholey Sheet Mixed Media Kit, Ouchless Cardboard (which I placed under a sheet of Coredinations Cardstock and then sanded over it so that the pattern from the Ouchless Cardboard would show through) plus odds and ends from the Scarlet Fever & Wedding Night Mixed Media Color Kits.

I (Maggi again) used an old canvas picture I bought on clearance, a picture of The Monkees and pieces from the Mixed Media Color Kits to create this wall hanging of my favorite band ever: The Monkees! I used the title of one of their later songs, “Listen to the Band” as the title for this project.

And there you have it! This is a great group of creative types, not to mention they are a load of fun so head on over to These Are a Few of My Favorite Things, link up your Favorite Band project and enter for your chance to win the last ACME #3 Mixed Media Paper Crafting Kit! Deadline is August 13th. Good luck!

Now go glue something awesome onto some awesome something! 😀
